Bringing the season to a vibrant close is our program full of rhythm,
lyricism, and sweeping emotion. Clarice Assad’s Baião ’N’ Blues
opens with infectious energy, blending Brazilian rhythms and bluesy
harmonies into a colorful and captivating orchestral soundscape.
Dynamic pianist Vijay Venkatesh takes center stage in Grieg’s
beloved Piano Concerto in A Minor, a cornerstone of the
repertoire known for its soaring melodies, dramatic flair, and
lyrical beauty. From its iconic opening to its tender, expressive
moments, the concerto showcases both virtuosic brilliance and
poetic sensitivity.
The program concludes with Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances,
his final orchestral masterpiece. Rich with lush harmonies, driving
rhythms, and haunting nostalgia, this powerful work brings the
season to a thrilling and unforgettable finish.
