Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band

Nov 13, 2018 | 8:00PM

Blues Rock Review of Lay It On Down “With this being the first batch of original material from the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band in six years, expectations were high. Consider those expectations exceeded…”

There are few artists whose names are synonymous with one instrument and how it's played in service to an entire genre.

Utter the phrase "young blues rock guitarist" within earshot of anyone with even a cursory knowledge of the modern musical vanguard and the first name they are most likely to respond with will be Kenny Wayne Shepherd. The Louisiana born axeman and songsmith has sold millions of albums while throwing singles into the Top 10, shining a light on the rich blues of the past and forging ahead with his own modern twist on a classic sound he has embodied since his teens. The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band is Kenny Wayne Shepherd along with Noah Hunt (vocals), Chris “Whipper” Layton (drums), Scott Nelson (bass), and Joe Krown (keyboards).

Currently on tour to promote the latest release Lay It On Down – the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band will make a stop in Evansville for one night only at the Victory Theatre on November 13th.

Support: Casey James

Casey James is back with Strip It Down, an appropriately titled album given the raw and rooted songs it contains. ‘Strip It Down’ is a danceable album that is truly blues at its core.

Produced by Grammy Award Winner Tom Hambridge and featuring a duet with Delbert McClinton on ’Bulletproof,' James has returned to his blues roots.  "This music has been a lifetime in the making for me. If you listen close enough you can hear my heartbeat; The thing that keeps me alive. This album has been a healing process for me. To share my heart and passion with the world in an honest way is the best feeling ever." -Casey James

Tickets are: $39, $59 & $99
